Grief and Loss Support
Adults struggling to cope with loss have found understanding, acceptance, and gentle guidance from Avow’s professional bereavement staff members since our founding in 1983.
Groups meet in person at the Center for Grief Support on our campus or virtually, through tools like Zoom® video conferencing.
Groups are available for different needs, including support for caregivers, children and teens, the LGBTQ+ community, pet loss, those with a loved one with Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s, and many more.
You are welcome at the Center for Grief Support, even if your loved one was not an Avow patient. There is never a cost for care.
To talk to a bereavement counselor, call 239-261-4404 or 888-484-AVOW (2869). During business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) you will be connected to a member of our bereavement support team. After hours, and on holidays and weekends, a member of our staff will arrange for a bereavement counselor to follow up with you as soon as possible.
Pet Loss
Avow’s bereavement team is available to support those who have suffered the loss of a pet. Staff are available during regular office hours to talk in person or over the phone. Depending on community need, we may also schedule a public support group meeting.
Community Memorial Programs
Avow holds RememberingSM memorial services in several locations in Collier County each year for patient family members and the community at large. These services incorporate music and inspirational readings to honor those who have passed. All are welcome. We also hold short online memorial services several times a month, which are open to all. Check the Calendar for details.
Annual Butterfly Release
Our annual Butterfly Release offers families the opportunity to remember or honor a loved one. This beautiful ceremony features inspirational readings, music, reading of the names of those being remembered and a release of butterflies.
